Dr Yuemei Ma
Teaching Fellow in Business and Management
Yuemei joined the Çï¿ûÊÓƵ in 2023 after completing her PhD in Business Management Studies from Brunel University London in 2021. She also holds an MSc in Human Resource Management from Brunel University. Since joining Greenwich, she has taught a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules, including Leadership and Enterprise (INDU1011) and Leadership and Communication (BUSI1739), where she serves as Module Leader. She is also a dissertation supervisor, guiding students in their research projects. Her teaching draws on her extensive research to offer real-world insights into workplace communication, organisational behaviour, and leadership dynamics.
Yuemei’s research focuses on improving communication between managers and employees, with a special emphasis on employee relations, engagement, and managing difficult conversations. By applying Grid-Group Cultural Theory, developed by anthropologist Mary Douglas, she uncovers the thought styles that shape workplace interactions and identifies dynamic patterns in communication. She also integrates innovative methodologies such as Participatory Theatre (applied drama), offering fresh perspectives that contribute to both academic research and management training. A highly motivated and open-minded academic, Yuemei is dedicated to advancing understanding of human relations and improving organisational practices through engaged teaching and impactful research.
