International Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Online)
If you are passionate about developing inclusive intercultural learning and global connectivity in your teaching practice, this online course is ideal for you.
The iPGCE is a global teacher education qualification for practitioners, with two or more years of teaching experience, who want to gain a recognised international qualification for teaching in an early years, primary, secondary or equivalent educational context. This online course is designed to develop teaching skills and knowledge when working with a diverse student body. You will need to be teaching or supporting teaching in a formal education setting (voluntary or paid) throughout the duration of the course.
Studying the International PGCE will enable you to develop your professional competency, as a creative and inclusive educator, through critical reflection and research in a national and global context. This award is widely recognised as an international qualification for teaching excellence.
Once you complete the course, you can use 60 credits towards completing a part-time or a full-time Master’s in Education through our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process.
Though this course does not provide a direct route to QTS, it can be used with our UK Assessment Only Route to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), if a candidate is suitably qualified and experienced.

You will be able to discuss and develop your understanding of topics covered in lectures in smaller group sessions. Contact hours may fall between 9am and 9pm, depending on your elective courses and tutorials.
Class sizes
The typical student intake per year averages 20-30.

Overall workload
Your overall workload consists of contact hours (lectures, seminars, etc), independent learning, and assessments. You should expect to spend at least eight hours a week studying outside of University attendance.
Assessment
On the iPGCE, students are assessed in a variety of ways including group work, presentations, evaluation tasks, self-reflective essays and research study. All assessment is designed to enhance professional development and strengthen understanding of inclusive global education practice.
