I have been able to carve out a career for myself from what I learned at Greenwich and am most grateful to the university for its love, care, and professionalism towards its students.
Memories of Greenwich
The university helps bring back sweet memories working with my classmates. I studied part-time over two years, which involved working and interacting with like-minded teacher-trainees. I enjoyed working together with one another and sharing tips and ideas.
I chose to study at the Greenwich as I wanted a university that was easily accessible. I live locally and being able to study at the Greenwich campus meant this was the best choice for me. I have since come to know many teachers who had their qualifications from this great institution. We have all had a great experience as a student here and we are all fully established qualified educational practitioners.
The course was well beyond my expectations with a lot of practical teaching experiences and assessment of my teaching practice by seasoned and experienced tutors. The resources were far-reaching and offered a variety of perspectives, helping me to better understand my discipline more holistically. Studying at Greenwich has helped me to find myself which is very rewarding.
I chose this photo as my Snapshot because it is a recent favourite and I am also wearing my favourite colour. It is handmade by my sister-in-law (Otega Fashions). I love this colour both for business and outside of work.
Life after Greenwich
I have been serving in the educational sector and growing professionally since completing my course at the university. As part of my professional growth and development, I have gone on to do a subject specialism in Language and Maths from Southbank University giving me an edge over my other peers in the teaching profession. I have nearly 20 years of lecturing experience in this area.
Besides my normal classroom teaching, I am also a certified coach and mentor. This has helped me develop my own business, , which supports people (mostly women) who desire to take their profession to a higher level.
I also have a desire to work in the environmental sector, specifically climate change. Through a charity, I provide training and seminars to companies with a view to helping them reduce their carbon emissions.
My advice for future graduates is to keep growing yourself and never stop at your first degree. Develop yourself in your area of specialty and prepare yourself for that big job or business that you have always desired. Remember that success is when preparedness meets with an opportunity as it is always too late to prepare when opportunity knocks at your door.
