Memories of Greenwich
Beside the academic exposure, studying at Çï¿ûÊÓƵ opened my understanding and perception to a whole new level. The exposure to different cultures and history provided through my studies – for example, our field trip to Normandy focused on World War II – helped develop my understanding and appreciation of humanity.
Also, the degree allowed me to experience first-hand the workings of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), the United Nations specialised agency with responsibility for the safety and security of shipping and the prevention of marine and atmospheric pollution by ships.
Greenwich Maritime Institute made available an eight weeks internship at the IMO, which exposed me to aspects of IMO's policy formulations and workings within the global maritime sphere.
Life after Greenwich
After Greenwich I lectured at a maritime school in Lagos, Nigeria. I have also since developed interests in business and innovative technologies. Through these interests I have been able to take up new challenges and remain engaged while I seek my next opportunity.
For current students, I would say that it is a rare privilege to study at Greenwich, so make the best use of it. For those about to graduate, I wish you the best of what life has to offer.
