This photo was taken at the Students’ Union in Dreadnought. I was in my element here and I was with some good friends laughing and singing. This is probably the best time at university that I can remember which was not stressful and simply being joyous.

Memories of Greenwich

Being able to create the things from my head into real objects and being able to concentrate on what I wanted to create was incredibly important. Also, having teachers who looked at me as equal and not as just another disabled person, but most importantly having the freedom to meet new people and experience new things away from my hometown, are strong memories of my time at university.

I chose the animation course at Greenwich because of the number of awesome lecturers who were very encouraging about my prospects. The course had an outline of exciting possibilities that got me excited and motivated to push my career into animation. It also had a lot of information about games design and how I could display my enthusiasm for 3D modelling and designing.

I was very happy during the first and beginning of second year as I was able to experiment with different ideas and techniques that I couldn't before. This also included using technology that would have otherwise not been available to me. I created some amazing things in the beginning of the second year and I really felt accomplished. Due to the pandemic, there were good and bad moments, however my lecturers’ enthusiasm kept me motivated and helped me to achieve my goals.

Life after Greenwich

As well as applying for roles in animation and 3D design, I have been working very hard on my social media platforms to promote my artwork and illustrations. In the meantime I have also been working as a community and accessibility advisor in Brighton. Community and local projects are very important to me as it really pushes the boundaries of what disabled people are able to do in a very inaccessible society.

My advice for current students is to enjoy yourself but also find the time to concentrate! Make sure that you are happy, and you give yourself some time to meditate as well as focusing on what you want to do in your career. Always remember that you are doing the best that you can.
