Acting Director Monitoring and Evaluation, Mandera County Government

This photo was taken during my first week at the Greenwich campus. It was the beginning of an exciting journey, ready to quench my thirst for knowledge.

Memories of Greenwich

I have many good memories from Greenwich. Many of my fellow students became close friends, and we spent countless pleasant moments not only in classrooms but also in cafés. I enjoyed how popular the Old Royal Naval College, the Greenwich Campus, was with moviemakers. I met many different people in my years at Greenwich, through a mixture of nights out at the Students' Union, library trips & coursework-based projects. I also enjoyed spending time in the spring sunshine by the River Thames.

Life after Greenwich

I returned to Kenya after my graduation. I began working as a fiscal analyst with Mandera County Government a year after I completed my studies. My task was mainly the preparation of budget and County development plans. In January 2020, I was appointed as an Acting Director in charge of Monitoring and Evaluation. My job is to monitor and track key indicators on a quarterly basis and subsequently submit to my seniors.

Deciding where life takes you after graduation is not an easy decision. If it is a question that makes you want to bite your nails, you’re not alone. Every student and new graduate goes through ups and downs – juggling doubts, taking detours, soul-searching. It’s all part of the adventure of self-discovery. It may be stressful at times, but also full of exciting new possibilities. Whichever course you are studying, strive to do your best. Follow your heart and with the skills cultivated at Greenwich, the world will recognize you.
