For schools and colleges

About

We work closely with schools, colleges and education partners across London and the South East to support academic attainment and progression to higher education.

The Outreach and Educational Partnerships Team co-ordinates the university's work with schools, colleges and local community organisations and is a team with extensive and varied experience in the education sector, including qualified teachers and careers advisers, outreach officers, recent graduates and student ambassadors.

We are committed to increasing the numbers of students from under-represented groups who enter higher education and work closely with our dedicated STAART team to provide information and guidance to disabled students who have concerns about going to university. We also work closely with our Care Leave Coordinator to provide additional support for care leavers to enter higher education including our Care Leaver Summer School and Bursary.

Who we work with

We currently work with over 300 schools and colleges in London, Kent, the South and East of England. If your school or college is not listed, please do contact us as we may be able to accommodate your request.

We are a member of the Kent and Medway Progression Federation (KMPF) and are also part of the Kent and Medway Collaborative Outreach Programme (KaMCOP), a project focused on facilitating the participation of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in higher education. This alongside our partnership work to lead and sponsor University Technical Colleges and multi-academy school trusts has enabled us to share the expertise that exists within our university with local educational settings.

More about who we work with

What we do

We work closely with schools, colleges and education partners across London and the South East to support academic attainment and progression to higher education.

We offer a range of activities, resources and CPD opportunities, and we have mapped out how each of these can support your school or college in meeting the Gatsby Benchmarks and the requirements of the Government's Careers Strategy.

More about what we do

We ask students to register their details with us, where relevant, at all of our events for a few key reasons. These include enabling students to join our mailing lists which ensure they receive relevant targeted information about our events and courses, based on the information they have selected, as well as our team being able to utilise aggregated data to report on the reach and impact of our outreach work. You can access our privacy notices online, and ask any member of the team for further information about the use of this data either when we visit your school or college, or by emailing us at esu@gre.ac.uk

We will be running a competition each term, where we will randomly select three student winners per academic term from all of those who have registered their details with us for that term. Winners will be selected in December for Term 1 activities, April for Term 2 activities and July for Term 3 activities. The winners will be selected as first, second and third prize and will receive a Love2shop voucher of £100, £50 or £25, respectively. The winners will be contacted and receive this voucher via the email address they have registered with us and will be notified of this competition at the relevant event they are attending, in advance of registering their details with us. You can view the for this competition online.

Greenwich Governors Initiative

There is currently a shortage of Governors across the South East of England, meaning that there are a large number of schools, colleges and academies who may have governance opportunities available and would benefit from the knowledge and experience which an additional Governor could bring to their organisation.

With this in mind, we have developed the Greenwich Governors Initiative, with the aim of creating a staff network of Governors who can share their knowledge, skills and expertise with those around them.

Whether you are currently already in a school governor role, would be interested in becoming a school governor, or are a school, academy trust or local authority with potential governance opportunities, this initiative could offer support for you.

Visionary Scholarship

For many students, applying to university can be an incredibly difficult and daunting decision. Inclusivity, excellence, determination and ambition lie at the heart of our values, and we understand financial barriers can limit student potential.

We work closely with our network of schools, colleges, community groups and education partners across London and the South East to support academic attainment and progression to higher education. Thanks to the generosity of one of our alumni we are pleased to offer two cash scholarships, worth £5000. These will be paid in three instalments during the first year of study.
