Our GOLD team facilitates a variety of workshops to support you throughout your journey through our GOLD scheme and beyond - whether you’re just starting, developing your application, or looking to get involved with mentoring or reviewing. All our workshops are facilitated online via Microsoft Teams throughout the Academic Year (September - July). You can find more information about all our workshops and how to book onto them below.

These workshops are only intended for staff employed at the Çï¿ûÊÓƵ and colleagues at our partner institutions. Please contact our team If you are from a partner institution and wish to book onto one of the workshops mentioned below.

GOLD Introductory Mentee Workshops

You must attend this workshop if you wish to enrol onto our GOLD scheme and submit an application.

This 2 hour workshop introduces Advance HE's Professional Standards Framework (PSF 2023) and our GOLD enrolment and application process. It will provide you guidance on how you can work with your approved GOLD mentor to develop your application and best evidence your practice against the PSF.

This workshop must be reattended for each new application being made through our scheme or if it has been more than 12 months since you last attended it.

GOLD Senior Fellowship (SFHEA) Information Workshop

This 1 hour session provides information about the requirements for a Senior Fellowship application. It will focus on the general requirements for the  D3 descriptor of the PSF 2023 and provide guidance on the types of evidence and experience that is best suited for a Senior Fellow application.

We strongly recommend to attend this workshop if you are interested in applying for Senior Fellow now or in the future.

We provide further development workshops and pre-submission appointments for those who enrol onto our scheme that are applying for Senior Fellowship. These are not bookable on Horizon. Those eligible for this, will be contacted by our GOLD team.

GOLD Principal Fellowship (PFHEA) Information Workshop

This 1.5 hour workshop provides information about the requirements for a Principal Fellowship application. It will focus on the D4 descriptor of the PSF 2023 and provide guidance on the types of evidence and experience that is best suited for a Principal Fellow application. The workshop is also joined by PFHEA holders to provide insight in their experience and to answer any questions you have.

GOLD 1-2-1 Drop-ins

These 15 minute bookings provide a one-to-one opportunity with a member of our central GOLD team. These bookings can be used for development discussion such as:

  • informal feedback on a section of your draft application
  • advice about development opportunities that might be useful to you and your application
  • guidance on how references should be written to best support an application
  • answer general questions about our GOLD scheme

We recommend that you attend our GOLD Introductory Mentee workshop, if you have not done so, before booking onto one of our GOLD 1-2-1 Drop-in bookings.

GOLD Writing Retreat

The 3 hour writing retreat is intended for those who have enrolled onto our GOLD scheme and are looking to develop their application. The Half day writing retreat provides a supported space to help with dedicating time to writing your application. They are facilitated by a member of our central GOLD team who will be on hand to answer any questions you have.

In addition to this, our friends at  the University of Kent regularly host full-day online writing retreats throughout the academic year. If you are enrolled onto our GOLD scheme, you are also welcome to join these too. Please contact our team if you would like to attend any.

GOLD New Mentor Development Workshop

You must hold a Fellowship or higher with Advance HE to be eligible to become a GOLD mentor.

This 1.5-hour workshop looks at the various responsibilities as a GOLD mentor, how you can best support your mentee, and how to develop a reflective and well evidenced application with them.
