Health, Safety, Safeguarding & Wellbeing Board

Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor’s Executive, the Health, Safety, Safeguarding and Wellbeing Board (HSSWB) is responsible for ensuring the health, safety and welfare of all employees and students in accordance with all relevant legislation and regulation. It oversees the development and implementation of the University’s strategic approaches to wellbeing, and safeguarding, and operates as the University’s Health & Safety Committee, providing a forum for consultation with students and staff.

HSSWB is supported by the following sub-committees:

  • , which is responsible for overseeing the health and safety aspects of any academic work carried out in the University involving biological agents or genetically modified organisms.
  • , responsible for the implementation of the University’s Health & Safety Policy and Procedures in halls of residence.
  • , which oversees the design and delivery of the University’s strategic action plan for staff and student health and wellbeing.
  • , which oversees arrangements in the University to ensure compliance and best practice in respect of the Prevent duty; safeguarding; sexual violence and harassment and hate crime.

HSSWB is also supported by , which are responsible for overseeing the implementation of the University’s Health and Safety Policy and procedures in their area.
